Ghostly Strike, like most other abilities, is normalized. This means that it uses a fixed attack speed (depending on the type of weapon you use) to figure out how much it benifits from Attack Power.

Daggers are normalized to 1.7 speed while swords/fists/maces are normalized to 2.4 speed (2-handers are normalized to 3.3 speed and ranged weapons 2.8 speed, if it interests you). This was implemented in patch 1.8 to make weapons with slow attack speeds less powerful (a good example is the old Barman Shanker being better than Gutgore Ripper if you stacked enough Attack Power). Note that Weapon Normalization only applies to some specials and has no effect on white hits.

Your math is also off, since Ghostly Strike does 125% of your Weapon Damage, but you have it calculated as 140%.

Since you will probably always be using a sword, fist, or a mace in your mainhand with a spec that has Ghostly Strike (going for Hemorrhage, that is - which is also normalized as of patch 2.3) the speed you should be using is 2.4 speed, and it would look like this:

((( AP / 14 ) * 2.4 ) + avg.WpnDmg ) * 1.25 = Your average non-crit Ghostly Strike damage.

This glyph should change the formula to this:

(((( AP / 14 ) * 2.4 ) + avg.WpnDmg ) * 1.25 ) * 1.4 = Your average non-crit Ghostly Strike damage, with the Glyph (multiplicative).

Assuming the Glyph is an additive 40% damage and not multiplicative, like almost every other talent in the game, it would be like this:

((( AP / 14 ) * 2.4 ) + avg.WpnDmg ) * 1.65 = Your average non-crit Ghostly Strike damage, with the Glyph (additive).

With a dagger, it would look like this:

(( AP / 14 ) * 1.7 ) + avg.WpnDmg ) * 1.25 = Your average non-crit Ghostly Strike damage.

This glyph should change the formula to this:

((( AP / 14 ) * 1.7 ) + avg.WpnDmg ) * 1.25) * 1.4 = Your average non-crit Ghostly Strike damage, with the Glyph (multiplicative).

I think this makes Ghostly Strike worth the Energy now. Unless you're taking on instance bosses or elites, you probably wouldn't use GS more than once per combat anyway, so the cooldown doesn't really mean much.

This rocks when coupled with Evasion/Evasion Glyph, and if you have it, Preparation.

So how much % you get when you glyph it.
20% + 10% = 30%
or
20% + 20%x10% = 22%
If its 22% /like Im thinkin/ you should get other glyph

So does this affect the duration of Kidney shot in pvp?

35% increase for Kidney is current 2.1second increase, does this make it a 2.7 increase?

Added in 3.x as Glyph of Ghostly Strike (A Subtlety talent that increased your dodge and did shadow damage when the attack landed).
Changed to Glyph of Revealing Strike in Cataclysm (4.x).
Changed to Glyph of Detection in Mists of Pandaria (5.x). Swirly Ball is back baby! (can be cast without breaking stealth and while mounted without dismounting, just like the original).

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed. Yes, Blizzard brought back swirly ball!

There has been some confusion on the forums concerning this Glyph and it's important to note that Glyph of Revealing Strike does NOT improve Stealth Detection, but increases your chance to detect targets that have cast Invisibility, such as the old Warlock spell Detect Invisibility. While you may have an easier time detecting a Mage, Detection will not help you find a Rogue, Druid, nor Hunter, all which use the "Stealth mechanic."

Currently, you can cast Detection in or out of Stealth and the animation is that of the fabled, "Swirly Ball," the animation associated with Detect Traps before it was made a passive ability in Patch 1.11. Without the ability to spam, rogues have complained of boredom during raid down-times and missing the animation altogether. With the introduction of Fan of Knives almost three years later in Wrath of the Lich King expansion, rogues experienced some relief, limited by the ability's energy cost. Now, with no cooldown nor energy cost associated with Detection, rogues may feel free to run rampant through the streets of their favorite faction city or raid while reliving the days of Vanilla and being the envy/annoyance of all their non-rogue friends once again.
